By default, History Book selectively saves pages that contain articles, ensuring that sensitive data is not stored. However, users have the flexibility to configure the app to auto-save every webpage if desired. Additionally, you can exclude specific websites that you never want to be auto-saved.
While History Book can be used as a read-it-later app, its primary strength lies in its powerful search functionality. With this app, you can easily find and access webpages from your browsing history whenever you need them.
For privacy-conscious users, History Book stores your browsing history securely in iCloud. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, guaranteeing your privacy. Furthermore, the app is completely free of in-app purchases, ads, and tracking. With a universal purchase, you only need to buy it once to enjoy its benefits on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Please note that the app utilizes readability.js to determine whether a webpage is readable, which may occasionally result in false positives or false negatives. Additionally, as the app is written in SwiftUI, there may be some minor UI bugs and non-standard behaviors.
Rest assured, the "can read and alter webpages" permission is simply a necessary requirement for History Book to save webpage content and is not involved in any intrusive or concerning activities.
